HOW DOES THIS EXPERT & SUPPLIER CONTRIBUTES TO A GREAT SHOP?

The aim of our cross-disciplinary team is to develop a favorable context for generating innovative ideas and concepts. We want to focus on: Methodological issues by seeking answers on how to measure holisticallly shopping experiences. The campus houses a retail lab to organise experimental research. We aim to establish innovative methodologies combining traditional and established methods from markting with a more holestic approach favouredby designers. Exploring thematical and conceptual aspects that open new insights on retail design, such as ‘experience economy’, ‘authenticity’, ‘holism’, etc. Re-design of heritage sites for retail purposes, developing guidelines for policy makers on how to create harmony between investors, retailers and heritage administration. This line ofresearch also includes historical issues of shopping – such as art nouveau retail interiors. Research by design: applying our theoretical knowledge into concrete retail design projects.

The main research items are optical characterization of light sources, especially power LEDs: spectral intensity, spectral radiance, light distribution patterns, colour and colour temperature, optical characterization of materials: specular and diffuse reflectance and transmittance, spectral BRDF, design of efficient lighting fixtures using ray-tracing software, lighting calculations, criteria for efficient lighting, research on solar cells and stand-alone PV systems.
