WHY IS THIS SHOP INTERESTING TO VIEW?

The flagship Reserve Roastery features an open-air assembly line, allowing customers to watch the roasting process. It Room is intended to give the curious and the connoisseur an inside look at how a coffee bean goes through the roasting process. The 360-degree design, ensures that there are views of the roasting from any angle. When beans are roasted and ready, they will travel in tubes to the coffee bar, where baristas will then create coffees using six different methods: Pour Over, Chemex, French Press, Siphon, Espresso and Clover-brewed coffee.

The building dates back to 1920, which was originally part of the historic “Auto Row” of Seattle. Starbucks restored it back to its original façade working to reclaim many of the original building’s materials, including wood in the decorative ceiling and original Terrazzo and concrete flooring. The space has been gutted and redesigned and is an open concept, three-level ode to coffee that provides a glimpse inside the company’s production factory. This is a real-life experience with coffee as the heart and soul, where customers see coffee being moved through the roasting process right before their eyes. The Roastery “honors the integrity of the journey” from the bean to the mug, highlighting international farmers as well as local artisans.

The new addition is a step forward in the Starbucks brick-and-mortar efforts, and represents a bid to keep up with luxury coffee roasters.

WHY IS THIS SHOP INTERESTING TO VIEW?

Albion is symptomatic of the change that has taken place in this area and is also demonstrative of the trend that sees restaurants and food retailers gradually converging.

The Albion Cafe is three venues under one roof: a small corner shop, a bakery and a restaurant. There is in-house bakery and cake counter and the vast majority of the food and drink products are British.

As you go in, the first part of the cafe is surrounded by a stacked of organic goods in shelves to be bought before dining or after or if people are just in a hurry to get some healthy lunch to go. The dining area is located beyond the shopping area.

This chic little cafe is unique in it's own way, the surroundings are minimal but comfortable: exposed brick walls, wooden floor, school house chairs. It has been designed with an industrial style and a touch of vintage through a large use of wood, leather banquettes, industrial lights and white tiles. The atmosphere is quite casual and relaxed.

WHY IS THIS SHOP INTERESTING TO VIEW?

Starbucks China opened a ‘coffee tribute’ concept store at the prestigious Kerry Center in Beijing celebrating Starbucks coffee heritage in Beijing.

Chinese consumers value the cafes as a social environment to meet and chat. Most consumers like to sit in stores for hours, besides coffee, they are enjoying the service, sofas, background music. This store reflects Starbucks passion for coffee while paying deep respect to the coffee culture and tradition in China.

The flagship store has a two-story design, built with coffee bars on both the lower and upper levels. The upper level houses ‘The Starbucks Coffee Workshop’, which invites customers to experience and discover Starbucks unique coffees, celebrated by origin, while enjoying the finest hand-crafted espresso-beverages made by Starbucks highly trained baristas.

This unique store also features locally-relevant design elements, by local artists, to bring-to-life the Starbucks bean-to-cup journey and coffee heritage. Both the lower and upper level bars are carved and inked with visual images telling the story of how coffee beans are grown, sourced and processed, executed through a creative and modern interpretation of Chinese brush painting. Contemporary furniture combined with locally sourced artifacts, such as mooncake molds and repurposed Chinese blue ceramics, together with beautiful accent lighting and art deliver a distinctive Starbucks Experience.

WHY IS THIS SHOP INTERESTING TO VIEW?

Starbucks innovates the railway on-board travel experience with its first Starbucks store on a train. Starbucks is always looking for unique ways and places to connect with customers and they created an inviting area where travellers can relax and enjoy their journey.

The contemporary design is focused on aesthetics, comfort and functional. This is one of the smallest espresso bars where the designers had te take into account a variety of factors such as constant movement of the train, space limitation and stringent safety regulations.

The exterior of the sleek red and white car is branded with Starbucks logo on both sides. White icons representing menu items including beverages and muffins, as well as the Fairtrade symbol and an image of Starbucks espresso machines were created and placed on the windows to highlight the offering inside the train car.

Inside the car there are two levels and features a warm and welcoming color palette inspired by the shades and tints associated with coffee, from dark roasted brown beans to snowy white steamed milk. The two levels provide seating for a total of 50 people.

On the entry level, the baristas will serve passengers from behind a curved wooden bar that also features a small pastry case. There is a standing bar provided for customers to enjoy their drinks.

The upstairs boasts a uniquely designed lounge area, with an intimate feel. It offers travellers a relaxing area to enjoy their favorite Starbucks beverages. The materials used to create the unique travelling experience include distinctive beige-colored leather, moveable club chairs and wooden community tables.

Swiss-inspired details were added like special dials resembling watch faces were crafted and built into all of the upstairs tables. Each has a number on it which is also used to support table service, so customers can order from their seats and have drinks delivered.

While Starbucks high quality coffee, store partners, service and experience remain consistent in their stores, they are tailoring design to meet the needs of customers and creating more local relevancy by taking inspiration from the local communities, the street, the city, the local coffee culture and in this case, the railstation.

WHY IS THIS SHOP INTERESTING TO VIEW?

The interior of the cafe and beer shop was created to let you relive the medieval atmosphere in the cafe. With the keywords of tradition and craftsmanship in mind, one was able to strike a balance between traditional and contemporary elements. The most important feature is without a doubt its glass-and-lead dome. The colourful, contemporary motif adds a new dimension to the stained-glass. And by using red copper, leather, bricks and Flemish oak, the designers managed give the vistors of the bar a warm and welcome feeling. The overall effect is warm and authentic, yet original and innovative.

WHY IS THIS SHOP INTERESTING TO VIEW?

Starbucks Espresso Journey is a pop-up shop dedicated to espresso drinks where visitors can learn more about drinks like lattes, cappuccinos and cafe mochas. The design lookes like a library where the walls have been lined with books in nine subtle colours, each containing information specific to a different beverage of that colour. Clients browse through the volumes and pick the drink they want and taking the book to the counter like a conventional library. The coffee is served and the book cover can be kept for some additional reading while drinking. The reverse side of the book cover has been punched into a tall or short size tumbler insert, which can be used in a Starbucks Create Your Own Tumbler. The overall design concept aimed to explore the relationship between reading and enjoying a cup of coffee in an interactive, experiential space.

A bartender and an actress/singer/tea enthusiast get together to open up a tea shop. They have one long skinny space and one big tall wall. A staggered array of 568 standard tea containers are magnetized to create tea storage, signage and an ever changing display of imagery. On the tin of each lid is an image of a teacup and saucer. It also lends the tea shop their name: Great Wall Tea Company. The long linear walnut counter is designed as a nod to the bar, where patrons lounge, sip and socialize.
