The St Katherine Docks store shows the latest interior from a supermarket that continues to experience rapid growth and which has grabbed the loyalty of almost the entire middle class in the UK.
As well as elements that are aimed at the ‘grazing shopper’, this store majors on service, free coffee for Waitrose card holders, on every visit, and quality. The latter is a given for the chain, but has been increasingly made part of its selling proposition.
Highlights of the Food proposition are the juice bar, a food for now area, the bakery, fresh and hot food counters, and a beers, wines and spirits deparment.
Local products in Waitrose shops are made within a 30-mile radius of the branch and include sausages, bacon, ice cream, wines and cheese. They are all made free from unnecessary additives and are usually delivered straight to the branch by the supplier. At present more than 1200 local products from 450 local suppliers are available in nearby branches.
Like other Waitrose branches, also this one manage their own charitable donations and local decisions are made on which charities are to be supported. This is a system called 'Community Matters', where customers are invited to choose to whom they want money to be donated.
