WHY IS THIS SHOP INTERESTING TO VIEW?

The U.S. coffee chain Starbucks has opened its largest store in Amsterdam and Europe. Artists and craftsmen transformed the vault of the former bank to café-theater space. The seventeen-meter-long coffee is regularly transformed into a stage for local bands, poetry readings and other cultural activities. In this store the only Clover in Europe, a high-end machine that brews one cup at a time, can be admired. Starbucks ambition is to become the third place where people meet, this after home and workplace. Here new ideas will be tested before they are introduced worldwide. Starbucks design was inspired by the Dutch coffee culture. There they choose for gingerbread shapes and Delft blue tiles on the wall. In a huge mural, the coffee trade from the Golden Age has been illustrated. The concept uses social media for example to let you know by tweet when fresh cookies come out of the oven.
