WHY IS THIS SHOP INTERESTING TO VIEW?

This is the only food hall operated by supermarket Waitrose in a John Lewis department store. This may be a food hall, but it is entirely possible to do a complete domestic food shop as in any other branch of Waitrose. This is therefore a hybrid store, functioning as food hall and supermarket.

It is an emporium for food lovers with seasonally-sourced and speciality foods. Specialties include dressed lobsters, free-range Berkshire pork, freshly-prepared baguettes, espressos and salads for those on the run. There is also charcuterie, a counter selling restaurant-quality takeaways and a lunchtime food service. Cheese lovers can enjoy the tasting sessions inside the walk-in cheese room, filled with which more than 100 fermented milk products from England and the Continent. In the wine bar it is possible to choose any of the wines that are on offer on the shelves and then to enjoy them while watching the shopping panorama in the rest of the shop.

One can navigate the aisles for seasonal groceries, as well as choose from an appetising selection of meal options - whether it’s a picnic in the park, desktop dining for a weekday office lunch or a 3-course at-home dinner party. The food hall will also offer a "tube dasher" service, allowing nearby workers to do their shopping at lunchtime and have it stored in a chiller to pick up on the way home.
